Soldiers with the 133rd Military Police Company, South Carolina National Guard, will dedicate a memorial at the Timmonsville Armory to honor three fellow guard soldiers who were killed in Afghanistan June 20, 2012.

The ceremony will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the Timmonsville Armory at 620 John G. Rose Drive.

The memorial will honor 1st Lt. Ryan Davis Rawl, 30, of Lexington, Sgt. 1st Class Matthew Bradford Thomas, 30, of Easley and Spc. John David Meador II, 36, of Columbia, who were killed in Khowst City, Khowst Province, Afghanistan when their patrol was attacked by a suicide bomber.

Five other South Carolina National Guard soldiers were wounded.

The soldiers were assigned to the 133rd Military Police Company, headquartered in Timmonsville.

The mission of the the company in Afghanistan was to train members of the Afghan Uniformed Police in Khowst Province.

The unit deployed 170 Soldiers to Afghanistan in Nov. 2011 and returned home Aug. 2012.
