CONWAY, S.C. (WPDE) - In just four days, the Coastal South Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross volunteers will prepare 6,000 meals for four holiday feasts.

"It's not just for the needy," said organizer Lee Zulanch. "It's just food for fellowship, the way it's suppose to be."

Zulanch along with dozens of volunteers are cooking meals at the Greek Orthodox Church in Myrtle Beach Saturday through Tuesday.

The group has never cooked 6,000 meals before.

The effort will provide food for the Trinity Church in Andrews Christmas Eve celebration and St. John the Baptist in Myrtle Beach, Belin United Methodist in Murrells Inlet and Risen Christ in North Myrtle Beach on Christmas day from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The effort still needs a few volunteers to help prepare meals and cleanup, said Zulanch.

Volunteers will be busy working Saturday 8 a.m. - 3 p.m., Sunday from 1:30 p.m. - 3 p.m., Monday 8 a.m.- 3 p.m. and Tuesday 7 a.m. until the last meal is delivered.
