(AP) -- More than 800 National Guard soldiers are returning to South Carolina after a year of training and deployment to Kuwait.

The South Carolina Army National Guard says soldiers of the 4th Battalion, 118th Infantry will fly into Columbia between Saturday and Monday. They will be bused to their armories for homecoming ceremonies.

The guard says soldiers of "Task Force Rifles" were mobilized in January and deployed to Kuwait in April after training at Camp Shelby, Miss. The unit provided all administrative, logistical, legal, training, security, communication, medical and religious support for three camps in northern Kuwait.

The soldiers were commanded by Lt. Col. Frederick Pasley of Charleston.

South Carolina's adjutant general, Maj. Gen. Robert Livingston Jr., says he's happy the soldiers are home to celebrate the holidays with their families.
