A firefighter with the City of Florence had to be taken to the hospital after falling while fighting a fire Tuesday night.

He was assisting the Windy Hill Fire Station at a house fire on Hamlin Street in Florence.

Fire officials say when crews got to the scene, half of the home was covered in flames.

Firefighters quickly got the fire contained and under control.

They say two adults and four children lived in the home.

The Pee Dee chapter of the American Red Cross has been notified to help the family.

At this time, crews aren't sure what caused the fire.
