FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) - A Florence lawyer has been suspended from practicing law while state court officials investigate money missing from a client account.
The South Carolina Supreme Court suspended William J. Rivers III, according to the Florence Morning News (http://bit.ly/SE56l2).
The court has named Florence attorney Nicholas Lewis to protect the client's interest.
The court said Lewis' duties included distributing case files to clients, collecting mail and managing the firm's bank accounts.
The newspaper reported one client said he was owed more than $76,000 from an auto accident settlement.
There was no answer at the law firm's telephone early Monday.
