Ralph Carey says he can hardly stand to walk the grounds at the Darlington County Courthouse at the town square, which is why he is on a mission to see things are improved.

Carey has complained to county leaders for a few years and feels like no one is listening.

"You can't walk on this courtyard. If you come in here in a wheelchair , you can't hardly roll a wheelchair. The concrete sticking up two or three inches. The tile, all the brick and tile is breaking," said Carey.

NewsChannel 15 cameras found broken and cracked tile, raised and uneven sidewalks and bad patch up work.

"I think I pay a lot of taxes. I think everybody in Darlington pays a lot of taxes. Especially when you own a business and this building should be repaired."

Darlington County Administrator Dale Surret says he understands Carey's frustrations.

Surrett says the county has fixed the grounds facing the fountain and removed broken tile and patched up a few places.

Carey hopes something is done before someone falls and gets seriously injured.
