One dead after two car crash in Marion County

A 50-year-old Marion man is dead after a two vehicle crash on Highway 501 Sunday, according Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson.

The crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. when the driver of a 2003 four door Nissan who was driving west on Admiral Loop Road pulled out in front of a man in a 2000 Chevy pickup driving north on Highway 501, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Corporal Judd Jones.

The driver of the car died at the scene as a result of massive body trauma said Richardson

The identity of the driver is pending notification of family.

The driver of the pickup and a passenger were sent to the Carolina Hospital System of Marion, with minor injuries, said Richardson.

The crash is under investigation with the Highway Patrol MAIT Team.
