The Aynor community dedicated a new picnic shelter Monday morning.

More than twenty people came out to the Aynor Senior Center on Main Street for the dedication. The shelter is at Huggins boat landing in Galivants Ferry.

It was a big surprise to the two men the picnic shelter was named after: W.G. Hucks and Marvin Skipper.

The two were instrumental in getting the shelter put there.

"I didn't have any idea at all," Hucks said.

Both men were overcome with emotion. In addition to the dedication plaque with the two men's names on it, both men got an honorary Horry County pin.

"It was a complete surprise, we did this thing for the people, but it is nice to get recognized," Skipper said.
