A woman killed when her church van crashed in Berkeley County Wednesday night is being remembered for what she did for the arts in Conway.

Melvira Johnson was an active member of the Conway Theater, including the production of "Aint Misbehavin" this past February.

Johnson, a Loris native, was one of four people who died in the crash, when her church van collided with a car on Highway 17A.

Three people in the van and another driver were all killed.

The director of the Conway Theater says the stage has lost one of its shining stars.

"She has this inner thing about her. She's a good person. So her soul and her voice and her smile is gonna be sadly lost. It's going to leave that empty space in our hearts in the theater," said Tim McGhee, Theater Director.

Conway Theater organizers will hold a memorial tribute service for Johnson on Sunday night at 5:30 p.m.
