NORTH MYRTLE BEACH -- Former North Myrtle Beach Public Safety Director William Bailey lost a lawsuit against the city.

Bailey was accused of lying about his city-issued gun when it was stolen out of his vehicle. The city said Bailey told them it was in a locked glove box. But his glove box doesn't lock.

Bailey was asked to retire.

He sued saying he was entitled to a grievance hearing to clear his name.

The judge ruled that because Bailey stepped down, he was not entitled to a grievance hearing. State law says you're only entitled to such hearing if you are terminated.
