Patrick Carey, 34, of Surfside Beach died in a crash Monday night, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard.
Highway Patrol says Carey was riding a moped on Enterprise Road about 10:30 p.m. when he ran off the road and hit a guardrail.
He was not wearing a helmet, according to Lance Corporal Sonny Collins.
Carey died at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center at 3:23 a.m. Tuesday, Willard said.
