RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Voters also will decide whether to give Democrats a winning streak for president in the state.

Precincts opened at 6:30 a.m. will close at 7:30 p.m.

North Carolina voters also will elect members of the Council of State, the U.S. House delegation and the state Legislature. They also will pick a justice on the Supreme Court and three Court of Appeals judges in addition to scores of local positions.

Republican Pat McCrory and Democrat Walter Dalton are the leading candidates to become the next governor.

Democrat Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney seek the state's 15 electoral voters. Obama won four years ago, the first Democrat to win since 1976.
