The Tough Mudder challenge is coming to Moree's Sportsman's Preserve in Society Hill this weekend.

About 7,000 people are already signed up for the challenge, which includes crawling under barbed wire, jumping into an ice bath and running through 10,000 volts of electricity. Only 80 percent will finish.

Another 3,500 spectators are expected to watch.

Will Dean and Guy Livingstone started the Tough Mudder in 2010. They were buddies at a UK boarding school. Will went to Harvard University and entered the Tough Mudder as a business plan. The school said no one would enter a race that wasn't timed. So, the two took the about $20,000 they had and started the challenge. They hoped 5,000 would sign up. Almost 5,000 did.

That year, there were three events. There are now 35 in the U.S., UK, Canada and Australia.

In Society Hill, the challenge runs both Saturday and Sunday. If you want to try it, you can register on site for $200. Spectators can sign up online through noon Friday for $20. It's $40 at the site.

Tough Mudder says the event usually brings between two and $56 million to an area, depending on its size.
