UPDATE: NOT A HOMICIDE
On Wednesday, Latta police responded to a home on Short Street and found a 29-year-old woman unresponsive.
Paramedics pronounced her dead on the scene, according to Latta Police Chief Crystal Moore.
Moore said a man came up to one of her officers on Leitner Street and said a woman was unresponsive at a friend's home on Short Street.
An autopsy is being performed to determine a cause of death.
Dillon County Coroner says the woman did not die as a result of a homicide. Police initially investigated the death as a homicide.
Grimsley said he will release the woman's name when he notifies her family.
