Florence police arrested Rohan Evans, 41, and charged him with three counts of Financial Identity Theft, six counts of Forgery and one count of Breach of Trust.
Evans was the former manager at Zaxby's on South Irby Street, according to Florence Police Major Carlos Raines.
Evans is accused of rehiring three former employees without their knowledge and forging their names to documents to enter them into the payroll system, according to Raines.
He then signed their names on direct deposit forms and W4 forms and set up bank accounts to collect nearly $9,500, Raines said.
Amber Taylor is one of the victims.
She says Evans hired her three years ago and she worked there until she found another job, last October.
"I was shocked, because I didn't think it would ever happen to me," said Amber Taylor.
She says Evans was always very nice to her and even offered her old job back.
"Why? I don't understand how he's seen me since then - how he can look at me and not feel bad about it."
In an email, Zaxby's officials said they're deeply disappointed and working aggressively with authorities during the investigation.
They've also reached out to the three former workers and apologized.
Taylor now worries that her credit may be damaged.
"I have to keep fraud alerts on myself for at least a year and I have to keep checking for a year," she explained.
Evans says he will not comment on the charges against him.
He is out of jail on bond.
