A Florence County sheriff's deputy was taken to the hospital after four people assaulted him on Saturday.
The deputy was responding to a call of a disorderly person at a motel on Lucas Street about 1:30 p.m.
The deputy placed Adrian Lamont Boney, 22, in handcuffs when three people started to fight with the deputy, according to investigators. They say the three kicked the deputy in the head and torso.
Backup deputies were able to subdue the suspects.
The deputy was treated and released from the hospital. There's no word on when he may return to work.
Deputies charged Boney, Dominique Alexander Cash, 21, Briana Renee Harrison, 21, and Natasha Rena Wright, 21, with Assault on a Police Officer.
Cash is also charged with Possession of Marijuana.
"This is another example of how our deputies put their lives on the line each and every day," Sheriff Kenney Boone stated in a press release. "You never know when a situation will take a deadly turn in this business, so they have to be prepared. Our deputies exercised remarkable restraint in this incident and kept the situation from escalating further. We wish our deputy a speedy and full recovery. They are all heroes in my view."
At a bond hearing yesterday, surety bonds for Wright, Harrison and Boney were set in the amount of $15,000. Bond for Cash was set at $15,000 for the assault charge and $1,500 for the possession of marijuana charge.
