(AP) -- A tropical depression has formed south of Jamaica and forecasters say it will likely strengthen into a named storm.
The National Hurricane Center in Miami said Monday the depression was about 320 miles (515 kilometers) south of Kingston, Jamaica, and had winds of 30 mph (48 kph). It is expected to become a tropical storm later Monday and drift westward before heading toward Jamaica on Tuesday night or early Wednesday.
Forecasters say the system could be near hurricane strength as it approaches Jamaica.
