South Carolina Highway Patrol said one person died after a car crashed into a moped in Marion County just before 7 a.m. Saturday.

LCpl. Sonny Collins said the moped and a 2007 Honda were traveling east on Highway 76 near Laughlin Road when the Honda crashed into the moped from behind, which resulted in the death of the moped driver.

Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson said the victim is Kevin Tindall, 44, of Marion.

Tindall was not wearing a helmet, according to Collins.

The driver of the Honda and other passengers in the car were not hurt, said Collins.
