Laurinburg police plan to charge a man with murder for beating his girlfriend to death.
Judith Patel, 63, died Saturday at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte from complications from her injuries she received on September 4.
Lucio Vazquez Valdez, 53, severely beat Patel at the home they shared on McRae Street, police say.
Police had charged Valdez with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, Inflicting Serious Injury.
They plan to charge him with murder.
