FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WPDE) - Special investigators with the South Carolina Highway Patrol are looking into the death Bradford Leighton Morris, 47, who was hit and killed by a car in Florence County Saturday night.

Officials say a driver called 911 around 8:30 p.m. saying he had hit Morris on Vox Highway just outside of Johnsonville.

Troopers say Morris was in the road when he was hit by the car.

EMS crews and troopers responded to the call and searched the area looking for Morris' body.

Investigators did an extensive search, but weren't able to find his body until Sunday morning.

Florence County Coroner's Office Investigator Keith Von Lutken says Morris' body has been sent to the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston to determine his exact cause of death.

Troopers say the driver will not be charged.
