Horry County Police charged Michael John Tompai, 19, of Myrtle Beach, with three counts of Armed Robbery while Armed with a Deadly Weapon for several armed robberies that took place in the Socastee area.

Police went to search for Tompai in the Strand Village neighborhood and talked to a friend of Tompai's who pointed out his home to officers, according to a police report.

Officers surrounded the home and knocked on the front door. Tompai answered and was immediately arrested.

He was then transported to the Surfside Beach Jail, and later sent to J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Tompai was given a $30,000 bond.
