Police are investigating a murder on Augustine Street in the Wren Village apartment complex in Lake City.
According to Chief Billy Brown, neighbors called 911 saying they heard gun shots, just after 1 a.m. Thursday.
When officers arrived at the scene they found the body of a man lying in a front yard, Brown said.
He added that the man was shot to death.
The victim is identified as Fredrick McMillian.
The victim lived in the Wren Village community, according to Chief Brown.
At this time, no arrests have been made. Brown says he hopes to have more information on a suspect later Thursday morning.
Some people in the community say there's been an increase in violence, especially with drugs, in Wren Village.
They say many of those involved in drugs don't even live in the community, but come there to commit crimes.
Residents say they plan to talk with officers about increasing patrols in the neighborhood.
