COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina's electric cooperatives are hosting dozens of World War II veterans on a daylong tour of military monuments in Washington.

Cooperatives spokesman Mark Quinn says Wednesday's trip includes 86 veterans and about 60 escorts who help the elderly military veterans during the flight from Columbia to Washington and back home.

The tour visits memorials dedicated to the veterans of World War II, as well as the Korean, Vietnam and Iwo Jimo memorials. It's the latest in the series of so-called "Honor Flights" that have hosted more than 2,000 South Carolina veterans on cost-free excursions.

Wednesday's tour is the second sponsored by the co-ops, which provide power to more than 1.5 million people in 46 counties.
