The Horry County School Board appointed a new member Monday night.
Janet Graham from Conway was the board's pick for the District 7 seat.
Board member Joe Defeo tells NewsChannel 15 that Graham was chosen because of her business experience.
Seven candidates applied to take the place of Paul Hudson of Conway, who died of a heart attack in July.
Graham will fill out the remainder of Hudson's term until the next election in 2014.
She is the Small Business Development Center Area Manager at Coastal Carolina University.
