Anyone wanting to find out how to go about obtaining a pardon or expungement for criminal convictions can learn more at a workshop in Darlington.

It will be held Thursday, September 27 at 9 a.m. at the Bethel AME Church, 1333 South Main St.

Representatives from the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services will be there with details on pardons.

Fourth Judicial Circuit Solicitor Will Rogers will be there to explain how to obtain an expungement.

A pardon clears any legal impediments for a person who wants to obtain certain jobs and professional licenses, and provides other legal advantages in the state. It is not needed to register to vote.

An expungement clears the criminal record of convictions obtained in South Carolina.

The differences between the two and how to obtain them will be explained at the conference.
