The Horry County Circuit Court has ruled that Helicopter Adventures may continue to operate from its Myrtle Beach headquarters on 21st Avenue while it is appealing a September 10th Zoning Board of Appeals ruling that overturned the 2011 findings of Horry County Zoning Administrator Rennie Mincey.
On September 19, a hearing was held and the Horry County Circuit Court granted Helicopter Adventures' petition, thereby allowing the business to continue operating.
"We are grateful that we will be allowed to operate our business as we challenge the ruling of the Zoning Board of Appeals," said Freddie Rick, president and chief executive officer of Helicopter Adventures.
The board ruled the company was incorrectly categorized as an amusement commercial business when it received its permit last year.
Residents near the business say the helicopter sightseeing company creates too much noise.
Judge Larry Hyman said Helicopter Adventures can remain in operation throughout the appeals process.
The appeal will be heard in Horry County Circuit Count.
At this time, no date has been set for that hearing.
