South Carolina Department of Revenue investigators arrested a Myrtle Beach man Friday on a tax charge.
Adam Jarrett was taken to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center Friday afternoon and charged with Assisting in the Preparation of a False Return.
In 2011, Jarrett knowingly provided a fraudulent W2 form to a tax preparer in order to have his income taxes prepared.
Although he did not work for the employer indicated, the W2 form stated that Jarrett had an earned income of $15,702 and $706 in state wages withheld.
As a result, Jarrett requested a state tax refund of $706 to which he was not entitled.
If convicted, Jarrett could face up to $500 in fines and/or up to five years in prison.
