Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick says Herbert Deas, Jr., 44, died from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.
Horry County police found Deas shot in the 3600 block of Highway 701 South near Conway about 9:45 p.m. Thursday.
He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after he got there.
Hendrick says Deas was from Georgetown, but he was living in Conway.
There have not been any arrests at this time.
