MARION COUNTY, SC (WPDE)  - South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a single car crash that killed a driver in Marion County Sunday morning.

The victim has been identified as Vera Cabbagestalk Jackson, according to Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson.

Around 8:58 a.m., Jackson was traveling south on Highway 41 alternate, six miles south of Marion, when she lost control of a 2001 Chevy four door, struck trees and was ejected out of her vehicle, according to Lance Cpl. Judd Jones.

Richardson says Jackson died of massive head and body trauma.

Jackson was pronounced dead on the scene, said Jones.
