One man is dead after a car struck the vehicle he was traveling in on U.S. 701 in Georgetown County, according to S.C. Highway Patrol.
Georgetown County Deputy Coroner Paulette Radcliffe identified the victim as Tommy Hardwick, 75, of Georgetown.
Lance Cpl. Brent Kelly said the car failed to yield when turning onto Jacobs Ave. just before 6:00 p.m. Friday.
Hardwick was a passenger and was not wearing his seat belt.
He died as a result of trauma from the accident.
The driver is from Georgetown and is being treated at the Medical University of South Carolina.
The driver of the other vehicle is from Aynor. One of the passengers in that vehicle is being treated at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
The other passengers were not harmed.
