Wednesday night, Florence County Sheriff's deputies got a call about a burglary at the Family Life Church on Highway 76 in Florence.

When they went inside to investigate, they noticed a suspicious chemical on the floor that had an unusual smell.

West Florence firefighters and the Florence County Emergency Response Team tested the chemical and found that it was non-hazardous.

Fire officials say the incident provided great training for officers.

"Although this incident turned out to be a non-hazardous situation, we can take the lesson that we learned tonight and apply them in the future," said Captain Anthony Fox with the West Florence Fire Department.

Firefighters say there have been four hazmat situations in Florence this year.
