South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Corporal Sonny Collins says a trooper was involved in a crash outside Loris Wednesday morning.
The Horry County Sheriff's office is investigating the crash because Highway Patrol is not able to investigate a crash when its department is involved.
Sergeant Sherri Smith, with the sheriff's department, says the three-car crash occurred around 7:20 a.m. on Highway 701.
The trooper was stopped near Railroad Avenue when a car rear-ended his vehicle, and another car then rear-ended the car that hit the trooper's vehicle, according to Smith.
The trooper was in good health but was taken to Loris Hospital by a fellow trooper as a precaution, said Smith.
The driver who hit the trooper's car was taken to Loris Hospital by EMS, said Smith.
