A woman who sued the Latta School District when she was suspended from middle school for wearing a confederate themed shirt has been sentenced to prison for Burglary and Grand Larceny.

A judge sentenced Candice Hardwick, 22, to six years in prison under the Youthful Offenders Act.

Deputies say she broke into a Latta home and stole eight guns in June. She's expected to serve three years and be placed on parole. Hardwick's lawsuit against the school district gained a lot of attention across the Southeast when it was filed in 2006.

A judge found in favor of the school district.
