MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (AP) - Patriots Point is set to announce plans for a major development on land owned by the maritime museum on Charleston Harbor.

Officials are scheduled to make the announcement on Wednesday aboard the World War II aircraft carrier USS Yorktown, which is the centerpiece of the museum. Prior to the announcement, the Patriots Point Development Authority board is meeting in executive session to discuss contractual matters.

The announcement is being described by officials as the most significant at Patriots Point in decades. They say it will have a lasting economic impact both on the Charleston area and the state of South Carolina.
