An 11-month-old boy who suffered severe burns to his feet is now home after three days at the Augusta Burn Center, according to Darlington police.

Officers say the child is doing as well as can be expected.

The child's mother's boyfriend, Reggie Sumter, is charged with Unlawful Neglect of a Child.

The boy suffered severe burns after officers say Sumter placed his feet in hot water at the Bowen Manor Housing Complex on Old Florence Highway last Saturday afternoon.

The child was taken to a Florence hospital, but then transported to the Augusta Burn Center.

Sumter is out of jail on a $30,000 bond.
