James Brown, a high school tennis coach at Waccamaw High School ended his cross country bike ride Tuesday at the Surfside Beach pier.

Brown decided to embark on this journey for a former student, Ashley Gaines, after she passed away in 2008 at the age of 17 from Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

His mission is called the Ashley G Ride.

Brown coached Ashley for two years at Waccamaw High School.

The organization raised $16,000 last year and is trying to raise $25,000 this year.

Donations go towards research and care for patients fighting lymphoma.

Brown left Huntington Beach, California on June 1st, dipping his rear tire in the Pacific ocean and today Brown finishes by dipping his front tire in the Atlantic ocean at Surfside Beach pier.
