A small plane crashed after the pilot failed to hook an advertisement banner at Grand Strand Regional Airport in North Myrtle Beach.

Around 9 a.m., the pilot had successfully taken off and came back around to get the banner when he missed his mark and failed to gain altititude, according to Director of Airports Mike LaPier.

The plane ran off the runway and crashed nearby.

The pilot was not hurt, said LaPier.

He does not know the extent of the damage to the plane.

LaPier said the tower notified the Federal Aviation Administration about the accident.
