Hartsville City Council voted Tuesday night 7-0 to pass an ordinance that would ban smoking inside of businesses open to the public, including restaurants and bars.

The ordinance will take effect in 90 days.

Several restaurants are already smoke-free in Hartsville, and smoking is banned at city parks and city owned businesses.

Council started discussing the ordinance in February.
