CAYCE, S.C. (AP) - Lexington County deputies say a former employee at an Amazon.com warehouse stole more than 700 iPods and nearly 50 laptops from the company.

Investigators said 20-year-old Todd Cofield Jr. was supposed to unload the merchandise from trailers at the Internet retailer's Cayce warehouse.

Deputies say Cofield stole the items instead, then forged paperwork to make it look like he stocked the electronics in the right place.

Authorities say Cofield took 726 iPods and 49 mini laptops worth about $160,000.

Cofield is charged with two counts of grand larceny and is free on $50,000 bail. A phone listing for him could not be found and it could not be determined if he had a lawyer.
