*****UPDATE: These cooling centers have closed and will not reopen. In their place, Florence County has opened an emergency shelter at Wilson High School that will stay open 24 hours a day until power is restored. More information on that can be found here.*****

The American Red Cross and Florence County Emergency Management will be operating two cooling stations in Florence County where approximately 7,500 residents are without power.

The stations are located at the Pentecostal Holiness Church, 608 S. Ron McNair Blvd. in Lake City and the Windy Hill Fire Station, 5610 E. Palmetto Street in Florence.

The cooling stations will provide relief from the heat for local residents and will be open from 12:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. each day until power has been restored.

Water and a snack will be provided.

You can help your neighbors recover from disasters by making a financial contribution to the American Red Cross today by visiting www.columbiaregionredcross.org.

For additional information, call the American Red Cross at 662-8121 or the Florence County Emergency Management Department at 665-7255.
