Florence County deputies arrested Kevin Spry, 35, Monday and charged him with one count of Petit Larceny, one count of Malicious Injury to Property and one count of Arson, third degree.

They say Spry and others cut into a fence in an effort to steal golf cart batteries from a business on South Irby Street.

Deputies say after they stole the batteries, Spry and the other suspects poured an accelerant on the business building and set it on fire. They say the fire caused several thousands of dollars in damage.

Spry is being held at the Florence County Detention Center on a $50,000.00 surety bond.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing and additional charges are likely.

Investigators ask that anyone with knowledge or information regarding this incident contact FCSO at (843) 665-2121, ext. 438 or Crime Stoppers of the Pee Dee at 1-866-CRIME-SC. You do not have to reveal your identity to leave information.
