The Florence County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fire that destroyed a popular business. Just after 1 a.m. Sunday, a passerby called 911 saying Cussac's Crossroads convenience store on Olanta Highway near Olanta was on fire.

Twenty firefighters along with five trucks responded to the fire. It took them nearly three hours to put it out. Officials say the fire isn't suspicious but they called in deputies to help pinpoint a cause.

People in Olanta tell NewsChannel 15 they're devastated by the fire. They say the store has been a part of the community for several decades. The landmark is considered to have played a big part in the community's development.
