MYRTLE BEACH -- The popular TV hit "Antiques Road Show" is on the Grand Strand Friday and Saturday, looking for local treasure to showcase.
The show is characterized as part adventure, part history lesson, part treasure hunt and the show will be setting up shop at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center on 2101 Oak Street Friday until Noon.
More than 17,000 people signed up to have their antiques appraised by experts, but only 6,000 received tickets to the taping.
The show's executive producer Marsha Bemko says the show remains a hit because it appeals to so many people.
"I think what makes this show popular is that we are smart reality television. Some people like us for the antiques. Some like the history. Some people are interested in the money. Other want to make sure they don't sell something they shouldn't or they don't miss something they should buy," adds Bemko.
On Saturday, from 8:00 a.m. - Noon and 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.,there will be appraisal events and production shoots at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center with more than 70 appraisers, around 6,000 attendees, with more than 12,000 objects appraised.
