LAKE CITY -- Lake City Police Chief Billy Brown says a man was hit by a car and seriously injured on South Church Street just after 4:30 Tuesday afternoon.

Brown says the victim has cuts to the face, broken bones and other injuries. He's been transported to a hospital in Florence.

Brown says the driver of the car who hit the victim did stop and someone called 911.

Chief Brown said they are getting two different versions of what happened and they're trying to determine which story is the truth.

He said they have talked with the driver of the car, the victim and witnesses.

Brown said he took pictures from the scene to help with the investigation.

We'll have more information on this incident as it becomes available.
