(AP) -- About a half-dozen Newberry County residents have been evacuated from their homes and U.S. 76 is shut down after a truck carrying explosive material overturned.

Sheriff Lee Foster said Tuesday afternoon that no one has been injured.

A half-mile area around the wreck in a rural area near Kinards has been evacuated as a precaution.

Foster says about two dozen members of his office, the fire department, hazardous materials unit and the State Law Enforcement Division are on the scene.

Foster said the truck was carrying ammonium nitrate and blasting caps for quarry operations. He said it overturned near U.S. 76 and state Highway 560.

The sheriff said he was uncertain how long the cleanup will take.
