As you head to the polls Tuesday, here's information you may need for primary election day.

Information about the polls

Polls will be open from 7am - 7pm. You can find your polling location on the South Carolina Election Commission website.

You need one form of ID to vote. That can be your voter registration card, your driver's license, or a DMV issued ID card.

You can check your voter registration status on the South Carolina Election Commission website.

You will have to choose if you want to vote Democrat or Republican in the primary. You cannot vote in both. Whichever party you choose, you'll have to vote for the same party if there's a runoff.

Runoffs are scheduled for June 26th. The general election is November 6th.

Polling places not open

Hundreds of polling places around the state won't open Tuesday because no one is on the ballot. There are four precincts that won't open in Florence County.

The precincts are:

  • High Hill
  • Leo
  • McAllister Mill
  • Olanta

The area is in the new U.S. Congressional 6th District, and Democrat incumbent James Clyburn is the only candidate from either party to file for the seat. No other races in that area are opposed in either party's primary.

Races you will vote on

After the South Carolina Supreme Court ruling that took 248 candidates off the ballot, that meant many races came down to just one candidate for the primary, so that candidate automatically moves on to the general election. To see the races you will vote on Tuesday, click here.

Races on the ballot, but not counted

Here are the races on the ballot in which candidates were de-certified after the ballots were printed. That means you'll see a sign outside your precinct telling you the race is still on the ballot, but the results won't be counted, so don't vote in this race.

Below is the list of races per county. It includes the race, which ballot it will be on (Republican or Democrat), and the name(s) of the candidate(s) de-certified for that race.

Darlington County

  • SC House District 62 - Republican - Chippy Johnson

SC House District 54 - Democrat - Johnny Sellers

We'll also have that information on the air on NewsChannel 15 throughout the night, as well as on NewsChannel 15 at 11pm, which is airing immediately following Game 1 of the NBA basketball finals.
