A member of the board for Citizens Against Spouse Abuse, or CASA, says the organization is investigating allegations of mismanagement.

CASA has served Horry and Georgetown counties for more than 30 years as a resource for victims of domestic violence.

Sissy Rutherford, who issued the statement, said, "As members of the Board of Directors for CASA, we are obligated to monitor the management of resources entrusted to us by individuals, community organizations and government entities. We take this responsibility very seriously. There have been recent allegations of mismanagement within our organization. We are investigating these allegations; however, we are convinced that all funds received by us have been used for legitimate purposes by our employees and volunteers. We believe that after we complete the audit process, we will be able to answer all questions with the facts."

Rutherford said the State Law Enforcement Division is involved in the investigation. We have contacted SLED for more information.
