A Garden City Beach man pleaded guilty to Involuntary Manslaughter Tuesday.

Gary Allan Gillespie, 60, shot and killed his ex-wife at their home on East Surfwind Drive in March 2011.

Gillespie was using the gun to assault another man when it went off and hit his ex-wife, Cheryl Gillespie, 53.

She died from a single gunshot wound.

Judge Larry Hyman sentenced Gillespie to nine months in prison, but gave him credit for time served. He also ordered Gillespie to pay court costs.

Gillespie was booked at J. Reuben Long Detention Center Tuesday.
