NORTH MYRTLE BEACH -- In honor of the 68th anniversary of D-Day, Mr. G's Ice Cream and Grill in North Myrtle Beach is giving away free meals to veterans and active military men and women.
"In honor of this day, we decided to feed all veterans, and anyone in the military, Coast Guard, Marines, anyone," says owner Debrorah Serra, who inherited the restaurant from her uncle Mr. G, who is a WWII veteran.
Mr. G's Ice Cream and Grill opened in 1978.
The original owner, Mr. Edgar Gattis and his wife, Lois, come from a military family. Their niece, Serra, recently finished serving in the army. Serra's husband is now at West Point Army Academy.
"I'm proud to be married to a soldier who serves our country and I thank all of our military men and women who serve our country. I love them all," says Serra.
Mr. G's is at 310 17th Avenue South, North Myrtle Beach.
The veterans motorcycle group, Rolling Thunder, will host a closing ceremony there to honor all of our fallen veterans at 5 p.m.
