Conway police arrested Gordon Michael Elliott, 34, for public intoxication.
Elliot is a councilman with the Nichols Town Council. Nichols is a small town located on the border between Horry and Marion counties.
Elliott was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention center at midnight on May 30.
Officials at the Nichols Town Hall says Elliott has been on council since 2008.
